Arsenal are reportedly ready to make a bold statement in the summer transfer market with a €40 million offer for Barcelona’s rising midfield talent Marc Casadó, according to Spanish outletFichajes. The Gunners are said to view the 21-year-old as a key long-term addition to Mikel Arteta’s evolving squad ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Casadó, a product of Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, has broken into Hansi Flick’s first-team plans this season, impressing with his tactical awareness, ball-winning ability, and positional discipline in a defensive midfield role. Despite being under contract at the Camp Nou until 2028, Arsenal are reportedly keen to test the Catalan club’s resolve with a substantial bid.
Arteta is understood to be a strong admirer of Casadó’s profile, which aligns with Arsenal’s high-intensity, possession-dominant style of play. The Gunners’ manager sees the young Spaniard as an ideal long-term solution at the base of midfield, someone who can anchor the side while growing into a leadership role.

The timing of Arsenal’s interest coincides with financial pressure at Barcelona. Following high-profile signings such as Joan García and Nico Williams, the club is under renewed scrutiny to balance the books and adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations. A €40 million bid, potentially including performance-based add-ons, could force a tough decision at board level.

Barcelona sporting director Deco is believed to be reluctant to sanction Casadó’s departure, viewing the youngster as a crucial figure in the club’s future midfield plans. The Blaugrana have previously described Casadó as “untouchable,” having installed a €100 million release clause in his contract to ward off interest.

However, with the club still navigating financial challenges, Arsenal’s offer may be considered, particularly if Barcelona see it as an opportunity to fund other priorities.
Arsenal are not alone in their pursuit. Chelsea are also monitoring Casadó closely and have previously shown interest, with both London clubs reportedly preparing bids in the €35–40 million range as far back as March 2025. The midfielder has also drawn attention from Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain in previous windows, although Barcelona’s €100 million valuation last year deterred most suitors.
While Arsenal remain optimistic about their chances, any deal for Marc Casadó is expected to be complex. The player’s growing importance in Barcelona’s plans, coupled with his long-term contract, means negotiations will likely hinge on Barcelona’s financial situation and Casadó’s own career ambitions.
