Manchester United are currently at risk of losing £37million in commercial revenue, sources have told Football Insider.

Ruben Amorim’s side endured a disappointing campaign after missing out on European football following their 15th-place finish in the Premier League and Europa League final defeat.

Man United agreed a new 10-year sponsorship deal with Adidas worth £900million over the lifetime of the contract.

However, under the terms of the agreement, United will be deducted £10million by the German manufacturer each time they miss out on Champions League qualification, including their latest failure.

Meanwhile, Marriott International – the world’s largest hotel company – has now decided not to extend its sponsorship deal with the club after it expired at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider Marriott’s deal is likely to have been worth £7million a year.

The commercial revenue at Old Trafford has remained static at £302.9million over the past couple of years.

However, the financial picture isn’t all bad after the club released their third-quarter results up until the end of March earlier this month.

United tightened their projected revenue guidance for 2024-25 to £660-670million, while their wages were down by £20million compared to the same point in 2024.

The 20-time English champions’ wage bill stood at £365million in 2023-24.
