Report: 'Unbelievable' West Ham star wants to leave amid Saudi interest, £30m gets deal done

West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta wants to leave the club this summer amid interest from Saudi Arabia and Brazil, according to The Sun.

The Hammers are expecting a busy summer transfer window as Graham Potter looks to shape the squad in his own image following a disappointing season in 2024/25, which means several first-team players are expected to move on.

It's known that Mohammed Kudus is one player who could be on the move, with the club open to offers for the Ghana star, but now fellow playmaker Paqueta is also looking for a new challenge.

Paqueta, who has been described as 'unbelievable', had a difficult 2024/25 season as he continues to deal with a spot-fixing charge brought against him by the FA, with the threat of a lifetime ban looming over him.

But while the Brazil international denies all the allegations, he is now looking for a fresh challenge away from the Premier League should he avoid a lengthy ban after the hearing.

Former club Flamengo are said to be showing an interest in the playmaker, while there is also interest from Saudi Arabia, and Paqueta is said to be open to a move to either destination as he looks to get his career back on track.

West Ham are open to selling the 27-year-old this summer, and would likely demand a fee of around £30m to make a deal happen, with Potter likely to use the funds to help rebuild his squad for the 2025/26 season. That's a major discount on the £85m fee that was touted last summer, with a move to Man City touted, only for the betting case to make it collapse.

The report suggests that Man City could be interested in reigniting their interest if he is cleared of his charges, however, the player isn't convinced it would be the best move for him and would prefer to move abroad instead.

The Irons are not in a rush to sell Paqueta, but it has been acknowledged privately that his mental state wasn't the best last season, and a fresh start elsewhere could be best for all parties.
