Dutch international defender Tyrell Malacia will return to Manchester United next month after PSV confirmed they would not be making his loan move permanent.

Malacia spent the second half of last season on loan in Eindhoven and made 12 appearances as they won the Eredivisie title.

But the 25-year-old did not do enough to convince PSV to make the loan deal permanent and they have now confirmed he will return to United on July 1.

In a statement, PSV said: "On July 1, the tenures of Tyrell Malacia and Rick Karsdorp at PSV will expire. Tyrell will return to Manchester United after his rental period, while Rick Karsdorp's expiring contract will not be renewed.

"PSV announced the arrival of Tyrell Malacia on loan from Manchester United on February 4 this year. The 25-year-old winger made 12 appearances in PSV's first team. With the club he captured the first national title of his career."

Malacia spent over a year on the sidelines with a knee injury but returned to action in November in United's Europa League win over Bodo/Glimt.

He made eight appearances under Ruben Amorim but he is now deemed to be surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

The former Feyenoord defender is said to be worth around £7million and United will hope to recoup some of the £13million they paid to sign him back in 2022.

Malacia penned a four-year deal when he arrived at United, meaning the club must sell him for £3.22m to avoid making a loss on him under the league's profitability and sustainability rules.

However, it is believe they are struggling to find any takers for him as things stand. United are keen to offload Malacia, as well as Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Antony this summer.
