What the national media said about Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson after England…

Elliot Anderson was in action for England’s under-21s last night.

The Nottingham Forest star helped England beat Germany 3-2 in the UEFA European Championship final.

Elliot Anderson has been hugely impressive for Lee Carsley’s side this tournament, so much so that Newcastle United fans have been swarming to social media in dread.

Newcastle fans have found it hard to watch Anderson tear it up for the young Three Lions, as they can’t believe he was sold last summer.

With all that said, here’s what the national media had to say about Elliot Anderson’s performance last night.

Anderson produced another stellar performance for England’s under-21s, with The Express giving him a near-perfect rating.

9/10 – “Was part of a dominant England midfield that had the Germans in their pocket in the opening period.

“Was the victim of a heavy challenge in the first half but battled on. Won his headers in midfield and was on the front foot throughout. Even pulled out a cheeky backheel to find Tino Livramento at one stage.”

Here’s what GOAL had to say.

8/10 – “Drove through midfield at will, while doing the dirty work to keep Germany out at the other end. An all-action performance in a big game.”

Anderson stats vs Germany under-21s

Anderson’s Sofascore statistics amplify what a well-rounded performance it was, as he was heavily influential at both ends of the pitch.

99 minutes

101 touches

91% pass completion

1 key pass

6 duels won

1 interception

1 tackle

1 clearance

The 22-year-old, as evinced by his one key pass, was well worth an assist, and defensively, he clearly put in the hard yards.

Elliot Anderson, WOW. Unreal performances throughout the U21 Euro’s.

Do-it-all midfield warrior. Physically dominant, great at screening the defence, wins the ball and quickly progresses. Powerhouse carrier with a big passing range.

For me, England’s most important player. https://t.co/1hCrhqpV27 pic.twitter.com/6TI7bkahI4

Harvey Elliot, who scored in three consecutive games including the final, was awarded the Player of the Tournament, but many argued Anderson was equally deserving.

He will now have an extended break before returning to the East Midlands for pre-season.
