Everton are one of several clubs chasing Liverpool star Ben Doak.

The 19-year-old impressed on loan in the Championship with Middlesbrough last season and David Moyes is understood to be keen on signing him.

It has been 33 years since a player made the switch to the Blues from their arch-rivals, with Gary Ablett the last to do so.

Liverpool ready swap deal for Doak amid £25m Everton news

The Blues are on several clubs looking at the Scotsman, with a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium not off the cards.

Iconic commentator Ian Darke told Liverpool News that the Premier League champions could sanction a move to the Toffees as it is a “persistent” rumour.

Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon (29 June) that the Anfield outfit are ready to use Doak in a swap deal with Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi.

It states that the Blues are keen on the Reds ace, who is rated at £25million, and the Scottish international is waiting on the word over a potential move.

Everton may have to move on to alternative targets

If the Reds and the FA Cup winners can agree to a swap deal, then the Blues would have to move on to alternative targets.

They could resurrect a move for West Brom star Tom Fellows, who notched 20 assists in the second tier last season, after failing to agree terms with the Baggies in the winter transfer window.

It would not be a critical blow for Moyes, as Doak is unproven in the top-flight and there a plenty of other wingers who could shine on the blue half of Merseyside.

A potential swap deal with Jarrad Branthwaite heading to Liverpool had been mooted but that is off the table, surely, with the Blues star close to signing a five-year contract to keep him with the Toffees.

That will be a relief to supporters, who would have been livid had their star man joined their arch-rivals, even if they did get one of the most promising wingers in football as a result.

It seems that we will have to wait even longer for a cross-Merseyside switch after the latest update on Doak’s future.
