What Birmingham City are now willing to offer Wolves to beat rivals to Tommy Doyle transfer -…

Tommy Doyle’s time at Wolves is coming to a close as the midfielder is ready to make a move to the Championship.

Doyle’s departure has been expected for some time, as after Gary O’Neil’s exit, the 23-year-old was left with no future under Vitor Pereira.

For what the Wolves manager wants in midfield, Pereira has made it clear to Doyle that he’s not wanted at Molineux, which has put the Englishman in a difficult position just one year after his permanent transfer.

A return to the Championship is expected for the former Manchester City starlet, with a stay in the Midlands most likely.

Birmingham City ready to go further than Sheffield United for Tommy Doyle

Having just become a father, staying in the Midlands is a preference for Doyle, making Birmingham City’s admiration for the player rather appealing.

Journalist Alan Nixon has commented on the Blues’ interest in the Wolves outsider, with an update that will make plenty associated with the West Midlands club very happy.

Nixon noted that Sheffield United faced a ‘serious fight’ to land Doyle due to Birmingham City’s desire to sign the midfielder, with those at St Andrew’s now ready to end the saga.

It’s understood that City are ready to offer Wolves a loan-to-buy deal to lure the Englishman to the club this summer, making it clear that they’re ready to go ‘further financially’ than the Blades to win his signature.

Sunderland and Wrexham were also interested in Doyle, but it looks as though it will be City who win the race, as the offer the Blues are planning will surely be seen as irrefutable at Wolves.

Nixon stated that Birmingham are ready to commit to a buy at the end of the 2025/26 season following a loan, plotting to offer Wolves a fee in the region of £10m.

The transfer fee is thought to be enough to ‘get the deal done’, as Doyle’s brief time at Molineux is set to come to a close.

Wolves set to earn unexpected profit on Doyle

Wolves didn’t want to sell Doyle permanently, but a £10m offer could just change those at Compton’s minds.

That’s because the fee offers Wolves the chance to make a slim, but unexpected, profit on the midfielder, who signed for £4m last summer.

Manchester City have a 50% sell-on clause over Doyle, meaning that the Cityzens will acquire half of whatever price Wolves sell the 23-year-old for.

A £10m exit fee would land City £5m, and Wolves £5m, offering the Old Gold a surprise profit on the unwanted player.

It’s a statement offer from the Blues, who are clearly desperate to land Doyle ahead of the 2025/26 season.
