Manchester City will soon have “concerns” about their 115 charges case as they continue to wait for the verdict.
Man City were dealt the charges by the Premier League in February 2023 for allegedly breaching the financial fair play (FFP) rules over a nine-year period between 2009 and 2018.
They are alleged to have concealed payments through third parties by disguising them as sponsorship revenue.
An independent commission hearing started in September last year and ended in December, with the panel still considering its verdict.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider he believes it’s a case of “sooner is better” for the club as the new season draws closer.
The 2025-26 campaign gets underway on 15 August, with champions Liverpool taking on Bournemouth at Anfield.

Man City want 115 charges decision soon
Borson insisted Man City will start to become concerned if the situation drags on closer to the start of next season.
He told Football Insider: “I would work on the general understanding that sooner is better for City.
“Clearly, as we get further into the deliberation period, or the drafting period, then you start to think that the extent of the judgment needs to be particularly carefully drafted to ensure that there are no challenges to very serious findings.
“Now, I don’t think we’re in that period yet, however, because I think that we are still in the relatively early stages of when we would expect a decision of a case of this magnitude.
“And furthermore, we don’t know the details of the diaries of the panel who are deliberating, so it may well have always been planned that they would have to take some time because it’s perfectly possible, for example, that they went straight into other work in the early part of this year.
“It may be that those were other matters that have only just been completed, so the decision was always going to take probably until at the earliest April.
“We are now almost in July. I do think we are getting into the period where City will start to have some concerns about where the decision is.
“We are in that sort of early period still, but I think it will switch quite quickly into an area of concern for the club if it drags on closer to the start of the season.”

Newcastle make Jack Grealish transfer plan after Man City latest
In terms of a potential exit, Newcastle United are keeping a close eye on Jack Grealish’s situation at Man City in case they are given encouragement over the deal.
However, Eddie Howe’s side are ready to pursue other priority targets before making a move for the England international, who is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.
Everton have also been linked with Grealish, but his £300,000-a-week wages are believed to be a major stumbling block in him completing a move over the coming weeks.
