West Ham are in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.

Lukasz Fabianski’s departure from the London Stadium has left the Hammers short in this position.

On top of this, Alphonse Areola has proved to be inconsistent under Graham Potter, which cost the East London club multiple points last season.

As a result, West Ham are targeting Mads Hermansen, who has just been relegated from the Premier League with Leicester City.

‘Hermansen could be on his way to West Ham’

Despite Leicester’s poor Premier League campaign, Hermansen remains highly rated.

The Foxes star was claimed to be the best goalkeeper outside of the English top-flight by The Times (9 February 2024) before he went on to win the Championship.

Now, Potter is looking to bring this ability to the London Stadium to finally end his goalkeeping foes.

Now, according to Gianluca Di Marzio via Tipsbladet (28 June), the Dane won’t be staying at Leicester for much longer this summer.

He said: “Mads Hermansen could be on his way to West Ham. The club really likes him, and it could be a good opportunity for him.”

“I don’t believe he will stay at Leicester. And I think West Ham would be the right option for him.”

Hermansen signing could be a bargain for Potter

With West Ham entering the 2025/26 season with serious relegation fears, their problems in goal must be resolved.

Hermansen has the ability to end this issue and bring confidence to the Hammers’ shaky backline which has not impressed in recent seasons.

Therefore, the signing could prove to be a bargain for Potter and help West Ham shoot back up the table.

Now, the challenge for the Hammers is to get the deal over the line before another team enters the race.

The London club have pondered multiple deals this summer which has now seen other sides swoop in to steal their targets from under their nose.

Hopefully, West Ham will make an official move over the coming weeks and finalise the transfer before the start of the Premier League season.
