Barcelona and Spain star Aitana Bonmati has left hospital after [undergoing treatment for viral meningitis](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/6/28/24457697/barcelona-and-spain-star-aitana-bonmati-hospitalised-with-viral-meningitis-ahead-of-euro-2025).
Aitana was hospitalised on Friday but it’s now been confirmed she has been discharged and could even link up with her team-mates shortly.
Here’s the statement from the RFEF:
“After several days hospitalized with viral meningitis, Aitana Bonmati has been discharged from the hospital and will join the Spanish national team in the coming days.”
The Spain squad is due to fly out to Switzerland on Sunday afternoon and, while Aitana will not be on the flight, there is hope she could rejoin her team-mates in the coming days.
La Roja’s first game of the tournament is against Portugal on Thursday, with manager Montse Tome having until Wednesday to make any last-minute changes to the squad.
Aitana has been ruled out of Spain’s opener but there does appear to be some hope she could still play some part in the tournament.
It’s said to take between 7-10 days to make a fully recovery from viral meningitis, and Tome is willing to wait for the Barcelona star.
