It has been a busy transfer window for Liverpool, after a quiet first two under the guidance of Arne Slot. The Reds have splashed the cash so far with over £200 million spent.

Florian Wirtz is the most expensive arrival so far, with the German completing a £116 million move from Bayer Leverkusen. Teammate Jeremie Frimpong has also made the same move.

They have been joined by left-back Milos Kerkez who has moved from Bournemouth. Liverpool have also completed the signings of goalkeepers Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman.

But it seems the spending hasn’t stopped there. Liverpool are one of the clubs being linked with an interest in Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi.

The centre-back has established himself as one of the top English defenders in the Premier League, and helped Palace to win their first FA Cup last month. There has been a lot of talk about a potential move over the last dew days.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest reports around the defender’s future.

Transfer ‘talks’

Liverpool are in prime position to complete a deal for Guehi, according to the Mirror. The report says that talks between all parties will take place this weekend.

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the defender, but it seems that Liverpool are leading the race. A fee of £40 million has been mentioned with Palace likely to accept below their £70 million valuation due to the player going into the final year of his contract.

‘Contract’ details

There has been more reports over a potential move, with journalist Nicolo Schira reporting progress on his X account. He posted: “Positive talks between Marc Guehi’s agents and Liverpool.

“Guehi has given his availability to join Reds for a contract until 2030. LFC are working on an agreement with Crystal Palace. Guehi’s contract with CPFC expires in 2026 and he doesn’t want to extend.’

£35m boost

Liverpool will be given a financial boost next week with defender Jarell Quansah set to complete a move to Bayer Leverkusen. He was part of the England U21 squad who successfully defended their European Championships title on Saturday night.

But with that tournament now over, the player is free to put the final touches to his move away from Liverpool. The exit will earn the club a fee of £35 million, which could be reinvested back into the squad.
