Casemiro has decided to stay at Manchester United to fight for a place with Brazil ahead of the World Cup. The 33-year-old midfielder made his return to Brazil under new manager Carlo Ancelotti for the World Cup qualifiers in May.
Casemiro’s return marked the end of his two-year absence from the national team due to poor performances at Man United. The Brazil international has received criticism during his tenure with the Red Devils under the former manager Erik ten Hag.
However, Casemiro has featured regularly under Ruben Amorim and enjoyed playing within the new tactical philosophy in the 3-4-2-1 formation. As the 33-year-old’s performance earned him a recall for Brazil, he completed a full 90 minutes against Ecuador and Paraguay.

Casemiro has decided to stay and Manchester United to bolster his chances of playing for Brazil in the next World Cup.
The Brazil international played 42 games in all competitions for United last season, scoring five goals and providing three assists. Earlier this summer, We All Follow United covered that United have put Casemiro on their sale list alongside Alejandro Garnacho.
According to the Mirror, Casemiro intends to stay and United to further his chances to play in the World Cup for Brazil next year. However, it is uncertain how the United hierarchy would react to that news, given their stance over the defensive midfielder.
When Sir Jim Ratcliffe assessed the club before taking control, he highlighted Casemiro’s signing as one of the transfer mistakes. Ratcliffe questioned giving a lucrative contract of £350,000 a week to someone who was nearing the end of his prime.
United signed Casemiro for £70m from Real Madrid with £10m add-ons, during the summer of 2022 under Ten Hag’s reign. The Brazilian was 30 years of age at that time and secured a four-year contract with the Manchester giants.

United’s poor signings in the past have played a big role in their current financial predicament, forcing them to sell players before they could add new ones. As the club intends to cut their wage expenses, this decision from Casemiro could have a negative effect.
