**It's starting to look like Newcastle United are going to miss out on another transfer as a cartel club are ready to throw money at a player linked with a move to the Magpies.**
Newcastle have already walked away from a deal for Bryan Mbeumo due to not being willing or able to offer the monster wages the player demands, and now Brentford are still trying to hike the price for Manchester United to pay, which would have also forced the Magpies to back off.
Now, Chelsea are flexing their muscle again with their bottomless pit of money they've managed to acquire through creative accounting practices, which, because it wasn't Newcastle doing it, have been deemed to be within the rules. Let's see what happens when we try and do the same.
Chelsea have already beaten Newcastle to the signing of Liam Delap this summer and now look ready to do the same with another forward, João Pedro.

Construction is underway for Chelsea's new-signings holding area with plans to extend further in 12 months
Chelsea look ready to beat Newcastle to the signing of João Pedro
-----------------------------------------------------------------
We'll never understand why Chelsea feels they need so many players or where they keep them all, but they never seem to stop buying and seem to rarely sell.
[The Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/joao-pedro-twist-newcastle-united-31955229) have reported today that Chelsea are growing increasingly confident of beating Newcastle to the signing of Pedro and are ready to up their bid to match Brighton's £60 million valuation.
Even if Newcastle match it, there's a strong feeling that João Pedro wants to play his football in London and that could be enough to sway him, but if not, we're sure Chelsea will offer a ridiculous wage packet for the Brazilian, which will seal the deal.
Newcastle won't be tricked into overpaying for any player
---------------------------------------------------------
While we don't want to become a silly club who pays players way more than they're worth just to get a deal done, it is nonetheless frustrating that the club with the richest backers in the league by a long, long way, can't match clubs that should be getting hammered with points deductions for PSR breaches.
We're sure some fans won't mind at all that we're set to miss out on João Pedro; we know one reader who is probably absolutely buzzing at the prospect of him going elsewhere (hi, Ian).
We still believe that, despite his obvious issues, Joao Pedro would be a fantastic signing for us, but we don't want to be forced to pay above the odds just to compete with Supermarket Sweep FC when we're sure we've got some other equally suitable targets in mind.
