Report: Man Utd could make move to sign "world-class" Brazilian after Psr deadline tomorrow

Manchester United are reportedly in the race to sign Juventus outcast Douglas Luiz this summer, and are poised to make a move after July 1st, as per Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.

The Red Devils have already landed ex-Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Matheus Cunha and a deal is in the works for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo to continue bolstering the forward line.

But boss Ruben Amorim is eager to sign new midfielders to strengthen his team's engine room as well in the coming months, and Juventus' Luiz has emerged as a potential target.

United Interested in Luiz

The player is increasingly likely to leave Juventus

According to Calcio Mercato, Luiz is among the players nearing an exit this summer following a frustrating debut season at Juventus, and United are interested in bringing the Brazilian, formerly dubbed 'world-class', back to the Premier League.

The Turin outfit splashed around £42 million to pry Luiz away from Aston Villa, but the midfielder has struggled to adapt to life in Serie A, recording just 27 appearances in all competitions without a single goal or assist. New boss Igor Tudor does not view him as part of his long-term plans, and he has effectively become surplus to requirements.

Winger Jadon Sancho is currently being eyed by Juventus and the Englishman could be involved as part of a deal to sign Luiz. However, Manchester United's pursuit is expected to wait until after the PSR deadline on July 1st, while Juventus would prefer to finalise a deal before the end of June to help balance their financial books.

Premier League newcomers Leeds United are the club most likely to push for the player during Juventus' desired timeframe, but United could be poised to make a move if the Whites are unable to strike a deal.
