“Another center target, sources say, that rival executives expect San Antonio to pursue: Boston’s Luke Kornet,” Fischer wrote in his latest Substack column.
Kornet just wrapped up his fourth straight season with the Boston Celtics and is now an unrestricted free agent.
The 7-foot-2 big man had a strong 2024–25 campaign, appearing in a career-high 73 games and starting 16 of them. He averaged 6.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 18.6 minutes while shooting an efficient 66.8% from the field.
The 29-year-old was a key contributor off the bench behind Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford, especially when injuries hit Boston’s frontcourt.
He also stepped up during the playoffs, logging 11 games and averaging 4.5 points and 3.9 rebounds on 72.4% shooting.
