Leeds United's search for a striker to add to their squad is well known as the club look to increase Daniel Farke's options for a return to the Premier League. Lukas Nmecha has already been added to the squad for next season after signing from Wolfsburg, in a move that will add depth and experience to the position.
Leeds are now looking for a player who could add a touch of X factor to their squad, with a suggestion now being made that player could well be Gonzalo Garcia, Real Madrid's 21-year-old forward.
Garcia is currently away with the Spanish giants at the Club World Cup in America after impressing last season with 25 goals in 36 appearances for Real Madrid Castilla in the Spanish third tier, there is a growing suggestion Madrid are ready to let the player depart this season, if the right terms can be met on a deal, with the potential of a buy back clause inserted.
A number of clubs have shown an interest in loaning Garcia, with Sunderland having reportedly put that proposal to Real Madrid, with talk of a mandatory purchase clause added that will see Madrid net £17m in total should all bonuses tied to Premier League survival be met.
Roma and Oviedo are also said to have expressed an interest in a loan deal, but Spanish reports say Leeds want to do a deal this summer for an immediate purchase of the player with no loan agreements. Leeds have been linked with a number of strikers already this summer and are considering their options as they weigh up what will be the best deal for the club, one linked to spending across the team as Farke sees his side rebuilt for the top flight.
