Leeds United-linked striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has announced he will leave Everton when his contract at the club expires in the next few days. In an emotional post on social media the striker, whose contract was due to expire on June 30, confirmed his future will be away from the club as he seeks a new challenge.

Calvert-Lewin has been linked with a move to Leeds this summer with talk of an approach from the Whites to secure the player on a free transfer. LeedsLive has previously reported it is our understanding these reports are wide of the mark, but there's no denying the Premier League striker will attract attention and will remain under consideration for many clubs until he signs a new deal somewhere.

Calvert-Lewin's injury record which has seen him miss a large number of games in the past two seasons, are what is believed to concern Leeds about making a move at this stage. Calvert-Lewin’s departure from Everton will bring to an end nine years at the club, a period in which he became one of the Blues’ leading Premier League goalscorers.

The striker wrote: “After nine remarkable years at this club, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision - together with my family - to begin a new chapter in my career. This isn’t something I chose lightly. Everton has been my home since I was 19 years old.

“It’s the place that saw potential in me, challenged me to grow, and shaped me both as a footballer and as a man. I want to express my gratitude to all the managers and coaches I’ve worked with over the years, and to my teammates who have become lifelong friends.

“Above all, I want to speak to you, the fans. Your passion is the beating heart of this club. Whether times were good or tough. Your unwavering support never faltered. Celebrating goals at Goodison Park, feeling that roar, is an experience I’ll carry with me forever.

“The choice to move on was not simply about me - it was a decision my family and I spent a long time considering together. We believe it is the right moment to seek a new challenge and continue growing, but that doesn’t lessen the bond I’ll always have with Everton.
