Report: Winner named in Nottingham Forest and Sunderland race to sign Atletico Madrid star

Nottingham Forest are exploring a number of exciting deals this summer transfer window.

Nottingham Forest have a healthy budget to spend after qualifying for the UEFA Conference League last season.

Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to bulk up his squad to deal with the congested fixture list on the horizon, with a deal already in place for Igor Jesus to make a switch to the City Ground.

Forest are also eyeing Lyon’s Georges Mikautadze, who has just come off the back of a 17-goal season with the French giants.

Mallorca’s Pablo Maffeo has reportedly agreed to join Forest and now there has been a fresh development on another defensive target on the continent.

Winner named in Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Sunderland race to sign Reinildo Mandava

Alex Moreno and Harry Toffolo are both leaving Nottingham Forest, so there is a pressing need to sign a new left-back.

That said, it was reported that Forest were exploring a deal to sign Reinildo Mandava from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

The Tricky Trees made contact with Atleti, however, it is Sunderland who have won the race to land his signature.

That’s according to The Sun, who claim the newly-promoted Premier League side have agreed a two-year deal with the Mozambique international.

Reinildo is out of contract next month, so he’s set to join the Black Cats on a free transfer, with Leeds United also missing out.

Forest could turn to Kostas Tsimikas

After missing out on Reinildo, Forest could turn their attention to Kostas Tsimikas, who is expected to leave Liverpool this summer.

Espirito Santo is looking at Tsimikas after being given the green light that a transfer is possible. Arne Slot’s side are reportedly looking for around £15m to sanction his sale.

Botafogo left-back Cuiabano was in talks to join Forest, however, that deal has since gone quiet as Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Brighton circle.

His teammates Jesus and Jari Cunha are still set to complete a move to the East Midlands.
