Newcastle United will have received a significant boost in their pursuit of a striker they’ve long admired.
The Magpies are actively looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season, following a dramatic final-day qualification for the Champions League.
Joao Pedro remains a strong target for Newcastle, with Brighton rejecting the Magpies’ initial bid.
Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford and Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga are also high on the club’s shortlist.
Another name linked with a potential move to St James’ Park is Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, as Newcastle explore multiple attacking options to reinforce their front line.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin confirms he is leaving Everton amid Newcastle links
Calvert-Lewin has confirmed his departure from Everton, bringing an end to a nine-year spell at the club.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the month, the striker has turned down Everton’s offer of a new deal and is now preparing for the next chapter in his career.
The 28-year-old took to Instagram to announce his exit in an emotional message to fans, the club, and his teammates: “To Everton Football Club and the Evertonians. After nine remarkable years at this club, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision-together with my family-to begin a new chapter in my career.
“This isn’t something I chose lightly. Everton has been my home since I was 19 years old. It’s the place that saw potential in me, challenged me to grow, and shaped me both as a footballer and as a man.
“I want to express my gratitude to all the managers and coaches I’ve worked with over the years, and to my teammates who have become lifelong friends.
“Above all, I want to speak to you, the fans. Your passion is the beating heart of this club. Whether times were good or tough, your unwavering support never faltered. Celebrating goals at Goodison Park, feeling that roar, is an experience I’ll carry with me forever.
“This choice to move on was not simply about me-it was a decision my family and spent a long time considering together. We believe it’s the right moment to seek a new challenge and continue growing, but that doesn’t lessen the bond I’ll always have with Everton.
“From my very first day, I always knew what it meant to play for Everton. Up the Toffees.”
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe loves Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Newcastle are among the clubs interested in signing Calvert-Lewin. As reported by TBR Football, the Magpies are considering a move for the striker and could offer a ‘pay-as-you-play’ style deal to bring him to St James’ Park.
Graeme Bailey, speaking to TBR Football, has recently confirmed that Newcastle remain firmly in the conversation to sign the ‘fantastic‘ striker, with Eddie Howe being a huge fan of Calvert-Lewin. He said: “We do know Eddie Howe loves him. We know Eddie Howe likes him an awful lot. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a backup to Isak signed.
“We talk about Calvert-Lewin I think might be one of um two strikers going in there but he’ll be a third choice. It might be a pay-as-you-play sort of thing. I think Calvert-Lewin might be Newcastle bound. I know Howe loves him.”
Tottenham and Manchester United have also been linked, though a move to Old Trafford appears unlikely with United already securing Matheus Cunha and closing in on a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.
However, Man United are not likely to pursue him with the club already signing Matheus Cunha and closing in on a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.
Calvert-Lewin joined Everton in 2016 and has since made 273 appearances for the club, scoring 71 goals and providing 22 assists in all competitions. Of those, 57 goals and 18 assists have come in the Premier League.
