The Detroit Pistons are targeting Timberwolves guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker as they look to add depth to their backcourt.
Detroit Pistons have entered the mix for Minnesota Timberwolves guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker, per NBA insider Jake Fischer via Marc Stein’s Substack.
With his future in Minnesota uncertain, Detroit could be a strong contender to land the 26-year-old.
It was reported that the Timberwolves will most likely not have enough cap space to re-sign the guard.
Alexander-Walker played a key rotation role for the Timberwolves during their deep playoff run, averaging 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in the 2024–25 season.
He shot a solid 38.1% from three-point range and earned praise for his defensive versatility, both crucial elements in Minnesota’s path to the Western Conference Finals.
Detroit, fresh off a 44–38 finish and its first playoff appearance in five years, is looking to strengthen its backcourt depth.
