Newcastle United face competition from 'several teams' to sign Park Seung-soo.

That is according to Suwon Samsung Bluewings boss Byun Sung-hwan, who has confirmed that the Magpies have not yet finalised a deal for the talented 18-year-old forward.

As well as targeting first-team ready players this summer, Newcastle have also widened their radius to try and find undervalued talents like Seung-soo across the globe, which has never been more important in a PSR world.

Newcastle have recruited Dinamo Tbilisi prospect Vakhtang Salia, Genclerbirligi youngster Baran Yildiz and Spain under-19 international Antonio Cordero in the last seven months alone and the Magpies have now turned their attention to Seung-soo.

However, there is plenty of interest in Seung-soo, the former Bayern Munich trialist, who set the record as the youngest goal scorer in the South Korean second division.

"If he goes, I wish I could go with him, too," boss Sung-hwan joked in comments translated by KNTFootball. "From a coach’s standpoint, I haven’t received any official information from the club.

"It’s true that several teams are showing interest in Park Seung-soo but, unlike what’s being reported, nothing has been decided or set in motion yet.

"He’s definitely drawing attention and the club is also thinking carefully about how well he can develop and adapt. I’m thinking about that, too. As of now, the fact is that nothing has been finalised."

Newcastle scout Oliver Slater recognised that South Korea was a 'new market which we have not really looked too much into before' during a recent visit to the country.

Newcastle's rivals, in contrast, have been looking for a while now. Spurs, for instance, recruited Yang Min-hyeok from Gangwon FC last summer while Brighton have signed Yoon Do-young from Daejeon Hana Citizen.

Newcastle will play in South Korea for the first time ever next month when the Magpies take on a K-League Select XI and Spurs in Suwon and Seoul respectively.
