Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their reported hopes of offloading striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer.
After a disastrous 2024/25 season in which almost everyone in United's first-team squad underperformed, the Reds are understood to be open to offers for virtually every player. That leaves Hojlund's future particularly uncertain after the Dane endured an especially miserable campaign.
The former Atalanta forward scored just 10 goals across all competitions in 24/25 and looked devoid of confidence for much of a difficult season. It means United have been linked with several new strikers, including Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres and Napoli's Victor Osimhen.
Reds boss Ruben Amorim will know that the club needs to offload several players to remain compliant with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
And it was hoped that reported interest from Serie A giants Inter Milan may offer a route out of Old Trafford for Hojlund in the form of a permanent deal and a welcome cash boost for United.
But reports in Sunday's edition of The Mirror confirm that the Italians have spent £20million on Parma’s Ange-Yoan Bonny and are ready to give teenager Francesco Pio Esposito more game time. The latter capped a fine performance against River Plate in the Club World Cup with his first goal for them.
That would close the door on a permanent move for Hojlund, although Inter could reportedly still offer a 12-month loan option with an obligation to buy.
However, the Denmark international does expect to start the season with United, having been asked about his future during the June international window. "I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United," he told Danish broadcaster TV2.
Hojlund has three years left on his current deal at the M16 club, with Napoli and Juventus also previously linked with a move for the struggling striker.
