Brentford tell Man Utd how much they must pay to finally get Mbeumo - Mike Keegan

Brentford want more than the £62.5 million Manchester United paid for Matheus Cunha to sell Bryan Mbeumo to them, according to the Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan.

The Bees are fully convinced that the 25-year-old Cameroon international is worth more than the Brazilian, who joined the Red Devils earlier this summer after his release clause was activated.

Man United have lodged two failed bids for Mbeumo, the last being £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons.

However, it will take more than that as Cunha’s fee will be fully paid in three instalments of £20.85m over two years.

Brentford are backing up their theory by statistics from recent seasons after Mbeumo notched 20 Premier League goals and seven assists last term while Cunha bagged 15 league goals and six assists.

While the Brazilian weighed in with 12 goals and seven league assists in 2023-24, with the Brentford star ending the same campaign with nine goals and seven assists, his consistency over the last three campaigns speaks volumes.

Mbeumo notched nine league goals and eight assists in 2022-23 and four goals and seven assists in 2021-22, while Cunha scored twice in 17 league games in his first season in England in 2022-23 after joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from Atletico Madrid in January 2023.

Man United’s pursuit of the Brentford star is set to lead to a positive conclusion, with a breakthrough the expected outcome and the player has told his club he wants to move to the Old Trafford club.
