With the second pick in the NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs selected Dylan Harper, generally considered the second-best player in the draft class behind Cooper Flagg.
With the 14th pick, the Spurs added 3-and-D wing Carter Bryant, who Brian Wright admitted later was long on their radar, and the Spurs would have eagerly traded up for him.
While the days after the draft are full of media appearances and practices for the youngsters, Harper and Bryant will get a chance to flash their raw skills at the Summer League.
The Spurs will tip off the California Classic on Saturday, July 5, against the Miami Heat in San Francisco, and Harper is looking to rack up wins.
"I want to win every game we play," said Harper of the Summer League. "I mean, the whole point of Summer League is getting your feet wet and just going out there and winning, competing, and just being your best self. So, definitely just want to go out there with the mentality, just got to do whatever I got to do to help my team win."
Bryant and Harper will be joined by Exhibit-10 players and fellow youngsters Harrison Ingram and Riley Minix, who both played last summer.
In college, Bryant came off the bench for the Arizona Wildcats, a role he will likely have in San Antonio, although in the summer, he should get a freer run.
"I'm just ready to get to work," added Bryant.
Bryant is a rawer player than Harper, but both are expected to be the missing piece needed for the Spurs to get back to contention with Victor Wembanyama.
