Incoming teenage talent Diego Leon is set to begin a new chapter in the north west of England with Manchester United next week, according to reports.
The Paraguayan left-back is expected to officially formalise his move in the coming days, after a deal was agreed with his current club Cerro Porteno during the January transfer window. He turned 18 in April, meaning the Red Devils have had to wait until the summer to complete the transfer.
Leon is a product of Cerro Porteno's academy and has made 33 senior appearances since his promotion last year, scoring four goals across all competitions. He is a Paraguay youth international, having made his U20 debut back in January.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Leon will travel to England early next week to begin his new chapter as a United player. Reports suggest he will sign a five-year deal with the club, joining for a fee that could eventually be worth up to £7 million.
Ruben Amorim's side return for pre-season training the week commencing July 7, with their first friendly set to take place against Leeds United in Stockholm on July 19. They will then head to the United States for a tour and will play fixtures against Premier League sides West Ham, Everton and Bournemouth.
Following a friendly against Serie A side Fiorentina on home soil on August 9, the Red Devils are set to kick off their 2025/26 Premier League campaign against Arsenal a little over a week later.
So far this summer, United have signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves for a reported £62.5m fee. They are also pushing to add further attacking reinforcements in the form of Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, but are yet to strike a deal with the London club.
