Leeds United target Real Madrid star – huge report from Spain

Leeds United scored 95 goals in the Championship last season. And that goal tally was good enough to lift the league title.

Daniel Farke and recruitment team will know that the level significantly increases in the Premier League. Last year’s promoted sides all failed to hit 30 points, despite hitting 80+ points in the Championship the previous season.

Leeds are still in the hunt for another center forward. And according to Fichajes, they have found one in Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Garcia. The 21-year old has been the bright spark in the Spanish side’s Club World Cup campaign. The Spanish outlet believe a fee around £17 million could be enough to convince Madrid.

However, in recent days new boss Xabi Alonso has given the striker high praise and hinted at a first team role next season:

“I had no doubts about Gonzalo. What he’s doing isn’t a surprise. He’s done it many times at Castilla. At least for him. He’s the typical number nine, who knows how to wait for his opportunity, who moves well. I’m very happy for him. He has Raul qualities in his movements. There are no decisions regarding the start of next season.”

Garcia has two goals and an assist at the club World Cup.

Garcia is good, but Leeds need better

The Spaniard is a decent player; he scored 28 goals for Madrid’s Castilla side this past season. He is a promising talent and could be a world beater. But he is absolutely not what Leeds are looking for now. Look at the trend of signings, good players playing at the top level in Europe’s top leagues.

Garcia is beginning his career, and will not be a risk the Whites will take this summer.
