Fabrizio gives update on‘contact’between Liverpool and Viktor Gyokeres camp

Viktor Gyokeres has become one of the hottest names on the summer transfer menu.

With 54 goals last season, he’s been more clinical than a striker in the six-yard box on a Sunday.

Naturally, the Premier League’s top clubs are circling — including reportedly Liverpool. But is this another case of “just browsing” or are the Reds ready to make a real move?

Recent reports from Portugal claimed that Liverpool had entered the race to sign the Sporting CP forward.

Some even suggested talks had started with Gyokeres’ camp. The Swede, once of Coventry and Brighton, is said to be keen on a big move. But amid the smoke, there’s been a splash of cold water.

Can Liverpool hijack Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres?

Romano has weighed in on the speculation. According to him, the Gyokeres-to-Liverpool story might be a little ahead of itself.

“I’m not aware of contacts ongoing for Gyokeres at this stage. His priority now is Arsenal, then we will see later in the window,” he told GIVEMESPORT.

That’s not music to the ears of Reds fans hoping for a marquee No. 9 this summer. Arsenal remain in pole position for the striker, despite having their reported opening bid rejected by Sporting.

The Portuguese club want around €80 million — a figure Liverpool aren’t exactly rushing to match, especially after their recent transfer splurge.

Still, with Darwin Nunez’s future up in the air, and Arsenal yet to close a deal, there’s always a chance Liverpool come back into the mix. Stranger things have happened — just ask Luis Diaz.
