David Moyes is desperate to add firepower to his depleted squad at Everton.
Everton managed only 42 goals in the Premier League last season, with the Scotsman relying heavily on the Toffees’ defensive qualities to steer them clear of a relegation scrap.
Moyes’ directive from the hierarchy is to make the Merseyside club a more exciting outfit as they head into a new era away from Goodison Park.
However, the 62-year-old is yet to receive the required backing in the transfer market, with moves for top targets Thierno Barry and Jack Grealish still not over the line.
The delay is likely causing the veteran manager angst and has prompted him to continue to explore a multitude of alternatives.

Omari Hutchinson is a target for Everton
Despite The Friedkin Group announcing their commitment to investing heavily in the first-team squad, Everton will still have to be frugal in the transfer market.
The Toffees are now looking to capitalise on Ipswich Town’s relegation by targeting a move for Omari Hutchinson, who is thought to be valued at about £30million, as reported by the Daily Mail (24 June).
The former Chelsea winger earned plaudits for his performances last season with the Tractors, and scored England’s second goal as the Young Lions beat Germany 3-2 in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship final on Saturday (28 June).
Hutchinson is being tracked by a multitude of Premier League sides, and ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively with Goodison News – believes Everton could sign the 21-year-old for a fee of around £20m.
“Ipswich just earned good money for Liam Delap,” King said.
“Therefore, I’d imagine they could agree to sell Hutchinson for around £20m, with add-ons included in that after a certain number of games.
“If he wants to sustain his level and play regularly in the Premier League, a move to Everton could make sense. He will be more challenged playing in the Premier League than the Championship.”

Hutchinson is a gamble for Everton
While signing Hutchinson would be an exciting prospect for Everton, the move would not be without its risks. The talented forward possesses a lot of qualities in dribbling and carrying the ball, and can occasionally create something special.
However, the forward’s most productive campaign came in the Championship, where he managed 10 goals and six assists, but last season saw him only record five direct goal contributions.
Hutchinson’s relative inexperience in the Premier League could also be a factor and would make his signing quite a big gamble for Moyes, who needs this summer’s arrivals to hit the ground running.
