Report: 16-time champions now want to sign either Nelson Semedo or Wolves transfer target

It is looking for all the world as though Nelson Semedo will be leaving Wolves.

There has been a four-year contract offer on the table from Wolves for the past few weeks, but the wing-back has still yet to decide his future.

Molineux News learned recently that Wolves feel Semedo is likely to move on and join a club overseas, but have not yet received official word from the player.

But a decision should come very soon, with Nelson Semedo’s current contract officially expiring tomorrow.

Speculation has been rife about his future for months.

Benfica were credited with an interest in Semedo, and a move back to his former club cannot be ruled out.

Besiktas have also been linked with Semedo in the last year or so but intriguingly, they are now deciding whether to sign the Wolves captain, or a player who’s been touted as an actual replacement for Semedo at Wolves.

It has been reported by TRT Spor that Besiktas have two players for the right-back position on their radar at the moment.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

And who those players are is significant for Wolves.

One is Semedo, and the other is Kyle Walker-Peters, a player Wolves have considered as a potential replacement for Semedo if he leaves.

It was officially announced earlier this week that Walker-Peters was leaving Southampton as a free agent.

Even more interestingly, Besiktas – who have won the Turkish Super Lig 16 times – are targeting these two players because they could not reach an agreement with Bright-Osayi Samuel, a player who has also been linked with Wolves.

But there have been no recent suggestions that Wolves plan to move for Osayi-Samuel.

Wolves’ lack of activity may have pushed Semedo away

Obviously at the moment we are still waiting for Semedo to confirm his decision.

But it is looking for all the world as though he is going to move on – if he was staying he surely would have already told everyone.

One wonders if Semedo would have committed to Wolves though had Wolves been busier this summer.

Up to now, the club have only brought in Fer Lopez who, while talented, is unproven.

Three key players have left in Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Pablo Sarabia.

Realistically, with Semedo likely having other proposals on the table, and Wolves not really in a position to be pushing for European football, his exit may be no real surprise
