**Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe could be rubbing his hands together with glee as a player he has admired for a long time has made the decision to move on this summer.**
Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been linked to Newcastle many, many times over the years, and while a deal has never really got close, there have been reported bids by the Magpies which have ultimately led to nothing.
Now, though, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has announced his decision to leave Everton when his contract expires on Monday, leaving Newcastle fans wondering if a contract offer could be heading his way.
Calvert-Lewin said his goodbyes to the Everton fans and stated that the decision wasn't his alone and that he'd taken his family into consideration too, which could rule out a move to Newcastle.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin posted a lengthy goodbye message to Everton

In the post on his personal [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/dcl/), Dominic Calvert-Lewin made a point that it wasn't an easy decision, but he felt it was the right time to move on.
> To Everton Football Club and the Evertonians. After nine remarkable years at this club, I've made the incredibly difficult decision – together with my family – to begin a new chapter in my career."This isn't something I chose lightly. Everton has been my home since I was 19 years old. It's the place that saw potential in me, challenged me to grow, and shaped me both as a footballer and as a man."I want to express my gratitude to all the managers and coaches I've worked with over the years and to my teammates who have become lifelong friends."Above all I want to speak to you, the fans. Your passion is the beating heart of this club. Whether times were good or tough, your unwavering support never faltered. Celebrating goals at Goodison Park, feeling that roar, is an experience I'll carry with me forever."This choice to move on was not simply about me – it was a decision my family and I spent a long time considering together."We believe it's the right moment to seek a new challenge and continue growing, but that doesn't lessen the bond I'll always have with Everton."I'm deeply proud of what we've shared, fighting for this club when it mattered most, scoring big goals in crucial moments, wearing the shirt with commitment and pride."My hope is that I leave with your respect, knowing I always sought to uphold the values of this great club.

> "Thank you for everything. From my very first day, I always knew what it meant to play for Everton."
We suspect DCL could be heading down south or abroad
----------------------------------------------------
If the decision to move is being driven by the 28-year-old's family, namely his wife, Sandra, who is a model with ties to London, then you'd expect that a move down south or even abroad seems the most likely option for the striker.
At least that's what we're telling ourselves as we simply do not want Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Newcastle.
Yes, he's a Premier League-proven striker who could come in for free, but he scored two goals last season and spends more time on the sidelines than on the pitch. He's just a younger Callum Wilson but with less of an eye for goal.
Obviously, we'll back him if he does come to the Too,n but it's not a move that gets us excited at all.
