CBS Sports says the 28-year-old guard is “facing allegations of gambling related to games and prop bets during the 2023-24 season,” when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks.

“An investigation is not a charge,” Beasley’s attorney, Steve Haney, told ESPN. “Malik is afforded the same right of the presumption of innocence as anyone else under the U.S. Constitution. As of now, he has not been charged with anything.”

Shortly after, the league released a statement, saying it was “cooperating with the federal prosecutors’ investigation.”

The Alpharetta native and the Detroit Pistons were in serious talks on a new three-year, $42 million deal, but ESPN says talks “have been halted.”

Beasley, a graduated of Saint Francis School in Alpharetta, averaged 16.3 points per game this past season while playing all 82 games, a career-high. He became the just the third player in NBA history to make 300 three-pointers while shooting at least 40 percent from beyond the arc.

The guard is entering his entering his 10th season in the NBA after being drafted as the No. 19 overall pick by the Denver Nuggets in 2016. Since then, he has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers and Bucks before signing a one-year deal with the Pistons last offseason, according to CBS Sports.
