Manchester United are struggling to get rid of Jadon Sancho this summer following his return from Chelsea.
Chelsea chose not to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, paying a £5 million penalty fee to return him to Manchester.
Sancho is refusing to accept a wage cut, which has made it incredibly difficult to find a willing buyer. He is currently earning around £325,000 per week on his United contract.
There is one year remaining on Sancho’s United contract, but that also means his value is at an all-time low with clubs aware that he could walk away for free next summer.

Man United fans split on triggering Jadon Sancho extension
United value Sancho at £25m this summer, which clubs have found reasonable, but his wage demands have stopped any deal from progressing.
With the risk of losing Sancho for free next summer, it has been relayed that United have an option to extend his contract for another year, which could give Ineos more negotiating power.
Fans on social media have been completely split on whether or not the club should trigger the extension.
One supporter wrote: “If he doesn’t leave this summer as a competent football club we should extend his contract to protect our investment and try and sell next summer.”

Another in favour of triggering the extension wrote: “I’d trigger the extension now so he knows he won’t get away on a free next summer”
Others want to extend Sancho’s stay to ruin his career… “Just trigger the extension on July 1..if he doesn’t find a new club, he does U23 two seasons.”
One fan added: “Do it and make him rot, if he doesn’t turn up fine him constantly”
However, the other half of the fanbase believe extending Sancho’s stay would be a terrible decision: “Ban him from the club and let him leave on a free”.
Another wrote: “Yeah but you’d still have to pay his wages which are absurdly high. That’s the issue. He was never worth that contract. A terrible signing.”
One fan certainly doesn’t see it happening: “There’s a higher chance of us signing Mo Salah than there is of this clause being activated.”
Jadon Sancho contract extension could cost Man Utd £17m
Ineos and Ruben Amorim will want nothing more than for Sancho to leave this summer with a comeback at Old Trafford impossible.
Terminating Sancho’s contract would cost £31.6m, so that is also out of the picture as a potential option this summer.
If Ineos choose to gamble and trigger the contract extension to try and protect Sancho’s value this summer, it would guarantee another year of paying his wages.

At £325,000 per week, that equates to just shy of £17 million added to the wage bill. Ideally, United would find a buyer for Sancho and pocket a £25m fee, but so far that has not been the case.
The last thing United need is to be stuck with Sancho for another year while he doesn’t contribute at all.
