Charlie Cresswell left Leeds United to join Toulouse last season, but the defender could yet return to Elland Road.

Leeds United remain intent on bolstering their squad ahead of the Premier League campaign, having already done so with the signing of Jaka Bijol and Lukas Nmecha.

However, Daniel Farke will be keen to see much more business than that, with several areas of the squad still needing serious attention this summer.

Defensively, the Whites seem to be fairly compact, but a recent update could see them pounce on yet another backline arrival.

Cresswell attracting interest from Premier League clubs

When Cresswell departed Leeds in 2024, very few would have anticipated his career to accelerate quite the way it has, with his recent triumph in the U21 Euros with England only serving as a showcase of his improvement.

In Ligue 1, he has thrived, with a report from the Sun on Sunday (29 June, pg 57) stating that Toulouse are now holding out for £18million for his exit this summer.

Cresswell was barely given an opportunity at Leeds

Several Premier League clubs have been linked, and while Leeds haven’t been one of them, they could pull off a very smart piece of business.

The Whites are believed to have a 15 per cent sell-on clause in his contract [YEP], meaning they would be able to sign Cresswell at a discounted price, should they choose to do so.

Leeds need sufficient squad depth in Premier League

Improving the level of quality in the starting 11 has to be the priority for Leeds this summer, though they also need to ensure that their depth is adequate.

With three competitions to compete in and the added quality in the Premier League, rotation will be key, and Farke needs access to the tools to achieve that next season.

Cresswell would not only add depth, but also push hard for a starting place as Leeds prepare for life back in the top flight.
