Report: 'Ridiculous' star agrees £180,000-a-week deal to join Man Utd

Manchester United expect to get a deal over the line for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo in the coming days, according to reports - and that will see the Cameroonian garner a wage of around £180,000-per-week once he completes his move from west London to northern England.

Mbeumo has been linked with a move away from Brentford for quite some time, with the likes of Newcastle United being touted for a move for his services, but it appears that the Red Devils will win the race for his services - and now his wage has been revealed as United plan a summer transfer charge.

The report by The Sun states that Mbeumo should be a United player 'by the end of next week', despite Brentford rejecting a second bid of £62.5million on Friday. The deal is expected to be approved after Tuesday, as United enter a new financial year when Profit and Sustainability Rules reset on June 30 (Monday).

That allows his fee to be included in the club's accounts at the end of the season, and as a result, Mbeumo will sign a five-year contract - worth an expected £180,000-per-week. That works out at around £46.8million, meaning that the total outlay for his transfer would be well over £110million, should a new, larger fee be agreed with the Bees for the star who Rio Ferdinand called 'ridiculous'.

United haven't set a date for his medical just yet, but Mbeumo has informed Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur - now managed by former Bees gaffer Thomas Frank - that he wishes to join United in the coming days.

Mbeumo joined Brentford in the 2019/20 campaign, scoring 15 goals in the Championship in his debut season and winning promotion to the third-tier in his second season at the club. Some solid seasons in the top-flight have seen Brentford come into the top-half, but this season's 20-goal haul in the league was only bettered by Alexander Isak, Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland in a sensational showing, leading to him being called 'insane'.

United struggled for goals last season, but with Matheus Cunha also coming into their ranks, attacking numbers should be a lot better with the duo forming a partnership under Ruben Amorim.
