Manchester United are nearing the start of their pre-season schedule.
This comes as a part of their preparation for the 2025-26 season.
To enable that the preparation for next season is as smooth as possible, Ruben Amorim has been aiming to target players and get them into Old Trafford early in the transfer window.
This can be seen through the early signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves as well as the targeting of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
However, now it has been revealed that Manchester United target Malick Fofana has been spotted wearing a Manchester United shirt with Marcus Rashford’s name on it.
This comes in contrast to Alejandro Garnacho – who is rumoured to be on his way out of Old Trafford – wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Rashford’s name printed across the back.
Fofana has been linked with a move to Manchester United for weeks with both United, Chelsea and Liverpool holding talks with the winger.
However, no progress was made from these conversations as clubs arguably could not agree over a suitable fee for the player.
But, with a large percentage of the transfer window to go, there is still time for Manchester United to successfully negotiate and sign the 20 year old.
Fofana was able to excel in Ligue 1 last season scoring on five occasions whilst also assisting on a futher four occasions. This is arguably what led to Ruben Amorim’s interest and intent with the Belgian stemmed from.
With this deal currently on hold as United move towards the signing of Bryan Mbeumo, we can see that this deal has slowed down in its pace although still has the potential to become great.
Would Fofana be good at United? Only time will tell in this matter.
