Manchester United must move for striker Victor Osimhen after securing a deal for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo to complete a new-look frontline for boss Ruben Amorim.
The Red Devils have already landed former Wolverhampton Wanderers man Matheus Cunha, who is set to elevate the quality in attack. But more reinforcements are needed if the North West outfit are to avoid a repeat of the dismal 2024/25 campaign that saw them finish 15th in the Premier League.
Former club legend Rio Ferdinand has already given his seal of approval for the club's move for Mbeumo, and he has suggested there is an opportunity to sign a proven talisman in addition to the Cameroonian, and United must ensure they take advantage of this opportunity.
United Must Push for Osimhen Deal After Mbeumo
The player wants to join
One of the best strikers on the planet, Osimhen notched a staggering 37 goals and provided a further seven assists for his teammates in just 41 appearances in all competitions last term. It was his first season in the Super Lig, since his switch on loan to Galatasaray last summer.
Osimhen, previously dubbed "world-class", is not expected to continue in Turkey, and his parent club Napoli are looking to part ways with the 26-year-old on a permanent deal in the coming months. A fee of around £64 million is believed to be enough to convince the Serie A outfit into sanctioning a sale.
Manchester United could be provided a huge boost in their pursuit of Osimhen, with Ferdinand insisting the forward is waiting for an approach from the Premier League giants, via his YouTube channel.
"No.9, they already know who I want. The comments know, the people know who I want, who I would go and get. Osimhen!
"It looks like he’s turned down Al-Hilal. He must be waiting for Manchester United.
"I don’t know if Manchester United are going to come. That’s the problem."
Rivals Liverpool and Arsenal have both turned their attention towards alternative targets such as Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike instead, which means Manchester United could find themselves in pole position to push for Osimhen.
Especially following an abysmal season of displays from striker duo Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, it is imperative that United spend whatever is required to strengthen in that position, and there are very few options better than Osimhen.
