Chelsea reach agreement to sign Liverpool target

Chelsea have once again flexed their financial muscles in the transfer market, reaching an agreement with a Premier League club for a player who was also a target for Liverpool.

The 23-year-old forward was on the radar of multiple clubs, but he made it clear he only wanted one destination for his next move.

This agreement will add another versatile attacking option to Chelsea’s already impressive squad.

The competition for his signature was fierce, with other clubs in the Premier League showing strong interest.

However, the player’s decision to join the west London side has now been confirmed.

His addition comes as Chelsea continues to rebuild their attacking unit with more depth and flexibility, following a busy summer window.

23-year-old Brazilian forward Joao Pedro, who had been targeted by both Chelsea and Newcastle United.

However, despite interest from other clubs, he made it clear he only wanted to move to Chelsea.

As per The Athletic, the deal, which exceeds £50 million, includes personal terms and a contract running until 2032.

The report read, “The 23-year-old Brazilian was targeted by Chelsea and Newcastle United but he only wanted to join the west London side.”

“A deal in excess of £50million has been struck, while personal terms are in place on a contract until 2032.”

“Medical checks are being arranged, and subject to successful completion, he will become part of Chelsea’s squad contesting the Club World Cup in the U.S.”

Joao Pedro’s move will further improve Chelsea’s attacking options.

He is a versatile forward who can create chances for his teammates and works hard off the ball.

He often operates in the left half-space before making well-timed runs into the box.

His style isn’t as dribbling-heavy as other targets Chelsea have been linked with, such as West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, but he offers a good balance of creativity and work rate.

This move comes after a training ground incident with Brighton teammate Jan Paul van Hecke, which saw Joao Pedro miss Brighton’s final two matches of the season.

However, Brighton’s head coach, Fabian Hurzeler, confirmed that the matter was dealt with internally and considered closed.

Joao Pedro’s arrival at Chelsea is part of a broader strategy to add more flexibility to their forward line, with recent additions like Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, and others, including players from previous agreements.

Chelsea’s summer overhaul continues, and this signing demonstrates their ambition to stay competitive.
