Winner named in Everton and Lille race to sign £25m striker - journalist

Everton are in the market for a striker this summer transfer window.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has just confirmed he’s leaving Everton, so there is a pressing need to recruit a number nine.

David Moyes is exploring a deal to sign Thierno Barry from Villarreal, however, Alan Myers isn’t too convinced a deal will materialise.

Nick Woltemade was also on Moyes’ radar, but he’s now expected to sign for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Now, there has been a fresh development on another rumoured Everton target.

Winner named in Everton, West Ham United and Lille race to sign Hamza Igamane

Everton tried to sign Hamza Igamane from Rangers back in January, but decided to keep their powder dry for a big spend this summer.

Igamane was again being linked with the Toffees leading up to the end of the season, with Moyes clearly keeping tabs on his progress.

The Moroccan centre-forward ended the season with 16 goals, which alerted further Premier League interest from West Ham United and Brentford.

But, it’s Lille who are now set to win the race to land Igamane’s signature, as they’ve reached a verbal agreement with the 23-year-old.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who claims a deal could be finalised soon.

Everton could turn attention to Evan Ferguson

It seems Everton are having difficulty in the Barry deal and after missing out on Igamane, they could turn their attention to Brighton and Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson.

The Toffees do hold an interest in Ferguson and he was another one that Moyes considered signing in January.

The Republic of Ireland international spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham, although, it wasn’t the most productive period.

Anyhow, Ferguson fits the kind of profile Moyes is looking for as he’s a physically imposing centre-forward with plenty of room to develop.

Perhaps working under the Scotsman would help him realise his lofty potential.
