Sir Kenny Dalglish has sent a message after he met singing sensation Lana Del Ray following the American pop star's popular summer concert at Anfield last night. Lana told fans she was "going to find" Sir Kenny after announcing the legendary Reds forward and manager was "in the building" just two songs in to her set at Anfield Stadium yesterday, June 28.
Hailing from Manhattan in New York, the 40-year-old star has expressed her support for Liverpool FC in the past, as she famously posed in the players’ tunnel beneath the ‘This is Anfield’ sign back in 2013, having been introduced to the team by her manager. She was also pictured wearing a Reds scarf with another football legend, Steven Gerrard.
And in 2020 she recorded an acapella rendition of LFC anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ for a documentary about the club.
After taking to the stage last night with a 14-song set list featuring the iconic 'Young and Beautiful' and covers of Tammy Wynette’s 'Stand By Your Man' and John Denver’s 'Take Me Home, Country Roads', Lana was pictured shaking hands with Sir Kenny backstage.
On social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Sir Kenny said tonight: "An absolute pleasure to meet you Lana and thank you for being so gracious with your time for my family and I.
"My granddaughter said it was her best night ever! Maybe we can get you back to Anfield for a Liverpool game soon. YNWA."
Lana, who is known for hits such as Born To Die, Summertime Sadness and Young And Beautiful first visited Anfield to watch Liverpool play Tottenham Hotspur in March 2013.
Revealing on a pre-match guided tour of the ground that it was her first time at Anfield, Lana, then 26, took her place in the stands wearing a Liverpool FC scarf and watched the game.
At the time, said she was a Liverpool and Celtic fan and revealed how she came to love the Reds, the ECHO previously reported. She previously told Liverpoolfc.com: "I was introduced to Liverpool FC by my manager, Ben, whose mood is dependent on the Liverpool results. I love watching Luis Suarez play.
"It's actually my second time in Liverpool but my first time at Anfield. The people in Liverpool are so friendly and the stadium's really impressive.
"I've not had the chance to attend a game before but I've watched Liverpool on TV before. It's great to actually come to Anfield."
