The Dallas Mavericks held their introductory press conference for Cooper Flag on Friday at the Dallas Mavericks Practice Facility.
During his press conference, Flagg was asked who he would put on his Mount Rushmore for both the NBA and WNBA. Which superstars did the Duke Product select?
For the NBA, Flagg selected Larry Bird, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan; for the WNBA, he selected Texas native Brittany Griner, Candace Parker, A’ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark.
Clark was a surprising choice on the list, as she’s the youngest out of all eight players, and she’s only in her second season in the WNBA. Flagg explained his choice, citing the Indiana Fever guards’ impact on and off the court.
“Put Caitlin Clark on there, just because she’s changed the game so much and is heading in the right direction,” said Flagg.
Clark’s career got off to a hot start with her averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds on her way to an All-WNBA selection, Rookie of the Year, and all-star selection while finishing fourth in MVP voting.
Flagg will miss his first chance to see Clark in person with the guard listed out for the Dallas Wings game against the Indiana Fever on Friday.
