Arsenal – like Manchester United – are looking to rebuild and push on following their 2nd place finish in the Premier League, for a third consecutive time.
To do this, a strong summer will be needed by the Gunners. This is to increase both the depth and quality of their squad to push closer to or even on top of the summit of the Premier League.
One key area of Arsenal’s focus has been in improving the North London outfit’s attacking frontline. Currently, this frontline can be said to be as bad as some of the worst in the league.
To fix this problem, Arsenal has drafted a shortlist of potential targets that they could sign this summer. On this list of targets was current Sporting CP player Viktor Gyokeres – who scored 45 goals across the Liga Portugal and UEFA Champions League last season.
Furthermore, Gyokeres was a pivotal part of Ruben Amorim’s operation at the Portuguese champions and a move to Manchester United would mean Amorim and Gyokeres crossing paths once again.
But, with this deal looking less likely, United turned their attention towards another target – Hugo Ekitiké.
The Frankfurt striker impressed in the Bundesliga last season. This came in the form of his 15 goals and 8 assists which helped Frankfurt to finish a very respectable third place finish.
This has led many Premier League clubs targeting him including Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
However, now it has been revealed by bild.de that Arsenal are also interested in the striker with the quartet of clubs looking likely to battle it out for the attacker.
Do you think that Hugo Ekitiké could be successful at Manchester United or would he better off somewhere else in England? And will he be any good? Only time will tell on that one.
