The Milwaukee Bucks are heading into the 2025-26 NBA season with many questions that they need to get answered. With nine-time All-Star Damian Lillard out for most, if not all, of the the upcoming season as he recovers from a torn Achilles, the Bucks do not yet know who their starting point guard will be. They extended a qualifying offer to Ryan Rollins, making him a restricted free agent, so he is still very much an option for them.
That being said, it is not yet known if he will be their starter.
Other big questions surround their front court. Center Brook Lopez is not believed to be in their future plans, which makes sense given his age and slow style of play. His expected departure, though, leaves a void at the starting center position.
That being said, the Bucks may have just answered that particular question.

Earlier today, it was reported that Milwaukee and two-time Sixth Man of the Year finalist Bobby Portis had reached an agreement on a new three-year $44 million contract that includes a player option for the 2027-28 NBA season:

Portis appeared in just 49 games last season due to serving a 25-game suspension for violating the NBA’s drug policy. He averaged 13.9 points and 8.4 rebounds a game when active.

Going into this offseason, many wondered if Portis would pick up his $13.5 million player option. Of course, he is not doing so and instead inking a new deal that gives him a slight raise.
And Bucks fans are thrilled:

With Lopez likely not returning, Portis is a good candidate to be Milwaukee’s starting center going forward. He did so in 2021-22 when Lopez was out recovering from back surgery, and averaged 14.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.
