Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns competing for reunion with future Hall of Famer

The Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns might be competing to reunite with a future Hall of Famer.

“The Stein Line” NBA insider Marc Stein reveals that both teams are interested in bringing back point guard Chris Paul.

“The Los Angeles Clippers, in addition to Phoenix, are another of Paul’s former teams that is said to be weighing a second engagement with the 12-time NBA All-Star, who turned 40 in May,” Stein reports.

Paul, a 40-year-old free agent, spent last season with the San Antonio Spurs, playing and starting a career-high 82 games. He averaged 8.8 points, 7.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 42.7% from the field and 37.7% from three.

While he might not be the All-Star he once was, Paul remains a strong leader who can be a weapon for a championship-caliber team.

Paul spent six seasons with the Clippers, where he was an All-Star five times and made first-team All-NBA twice. If he returns to LA, he would team up with Kawhi Leonard and James Harden, who is returning on a two-year, $81.5 million contract, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. The franchise continues searching for its first NBA title.

With Phoenix, Paul was a two-time All-Star during his three seasons with the Suns. He would reunite with Devin Booker, but the Suns are rebuilding their roster after trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets.

Over 20 NBA seasons, Paul has averaged 17 points, 9.2 assists, 4.4 rebounds and two steals per game while shooting 47% from the field and 37% from three.
