The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to keep Quentin Grimes ahead of the 2025 NBA free agency this summer. Grimes' four-year, $11 million deal has just expired, and he is set to be a restricted free agent. Last season, the 76ers acquired him from the Dallas Mavericks via a trade, and he became one of the most productive players for the team.
Grimes appeared in 28 games for Philly as one of the team's top scorers. Throughout his time with the 76ers, he averaged 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists on 46.9% shooting from the field. Due to the injuries that Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey went through last year, the 6-foot-5 guard had more time scoring the basketball.

Accoridng to The Athletic's Tony Jones, the asking price of the soon-to-be free agent has been steep. The 76ers want him back, but Grimes is asking for a new deal that's worth $25 million per season.
“The Sixers have been in contact with Grimes and his camp, although the price may end up being steep. Grimes, 25, is looking for a contract that averages $25 million per season, league sources tell The Athletic. He has emerged as a dynamic scoring guard, and he gives the Sixers a mix of the ability to shoot from the perimeter and get to the basket and put pressure on the rim off the dribble,” Jones wrote.
Re-signing Grimes may not be as important for the 76ers, though. In the 2025 NBA draft, they used the No. 3 pick to select VJ Edgecombe, who's also a backcourt player. Edgecombe has proven he's a dynamic player with his athleticism during his time at Baylor. Having him back on the roster could lead to the 76ers having a backcourt logjam.
