Andre Onana of Manchester United
Andre Onana of Manchester United
Will he stay or will he go?
That is the question that surrounds the future of goalkeeper and, if he does go, where do United go next?
It is understood that Onana is keen to remain at United but time is running out for him to convince senior figures in the club that he should be trusted to remain their number one goalkeeper.
It has been two years since Onana joined United from Inter Milan in a £47m move and his performances have been plagued by inconsistency.
He kicked off his United career by making a number of high profile mistakes but ended the 2023/24 season strongly, helping the club win the FA Cup.

Onana began last season well, too, and was even nominated for our Manchester United Player of the Year award.
But the mistakes crept back into his game last season and talk of United bringing in a new goalkeeper this summer continues to persist.
There are two schools of thought over how United's goalkeeper situation will play out.
The first is that Onana stays and United move on from number two goalkeeper by bringing in a new second choice goalkeeper that will provide Onana with stronger competition.
The second is that United upgrade Onana by bringing in a new number one goalkeeper, in a situation that will almost certainly see the 29-year-old leave the club.
Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez has been linked with a move to Old Trafford and that would be a transfer that almost certainly fits in the latter category.
However, a fresh report in over the weekend suggested that United are looking at two potential options and which of those routes they take will tell us a lot about Onana's future.
The first route was a move for Portugal international goalkeeper Diogo Costa. The 25-year-old is considered one of the best goalkeepers in Europe and is believed to have a £64million release clause in his Porto contract.
The second route was a move for Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor, who has impressed at the Club World Cup this summer.
The 29-year-old has helped Botafogo win the Brazilian League Championship and the Copa Libertadores in recent years and is said to be available for just £6million.
A move for Costa would surely spell the end for Onana - whether United seek a permanent exit or a loan move away from the club with an obligation to buy.
However, a move for Victor, who is unproven in European football, would suggest United are prepared to keep faith in Onana as number one and he would replace Bayindir as the club's second choice goalkeeper.
Should either of those moves materialise, it will tell us a lot about United's plans for Onana.
