DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (KVRR) –Adam Thielen returned home to Detroit Lakes for his annual Youth Camp on Saturday, June 28.

Thielen hosted roughly 400 kids. Throughout the day, kids were put through drills and, of course, got a photo with the former Minnesota Vikings, now Carolina Panthers Wide Receiver.

Thielen says returning home to give back is something he looks forward to every year.

“Really cool, special for me to be back home in Detroit Lakes,” said Thielen. “I spent a lot of my life here and have a lot of great memories on this field, in the school. I got to work out in the weight room this morning, so, very special for me and my family and excited to be back.”

Thielen is heading into his 12th season in the NFL and 3rd with the Carolina Panthers. He explained what led him to come back for another year and if this upcoming season will be his last.

“Just definitely committed to this year,” said Thielen. “I’m excited about that. Really what went down was the team, me and my family kind of just being all on the same page. Once I commit to it, it’s like, all right, here we go. I’m full go for this year. And then reevaluate after a year, kind of what I’ve done the last three, four years. Pretty much when I entered year 10, it was like, all right, let’s see where we’re at, see how my body feels, see how the team feels about me, see how my family feels about me continuing to play. And then, like I said, whether I commit to yes or commit to no, I’m all in on that.”

Carolina opens training camp with rookies reporting on July 21 and veterans on July 22.
