Viktor Gyokeres to Man United transfer twist as shock loan claim made

Manchester United will return to pre-season training at the beginning of July as Ruben Amorim looks to banish the ill memories of last season. Matheus Cunha was the first name through the door as part of the rebuild at Old Trafford and United are pushing for more with Bryan Mbeumo the next player on the agenda.

They continue to be linked with a host of players across Europe as they target reinforcements to re-establish themselves at the height of English football. But pressure will be on the Portuguese to ensure that they get off to a strong start, despite being handed a tough beginning to the Premier League season.

July is around the corner and it will not be long before the United players reconvene with the objective to prove they're capable for the club and it also allows Amorim to get a closer look at his squad new and old before the window slams shut.

Here the MEN has provided a round-up of all the latest rumours regarding United.

### Manchester United handed ideal Viktor Gyokeres boost

Manchester United could be handed an opportunity to sign Viktor Gyokeres amid reports that the Sweden international will not return to Sporting CP.

The saga surrounding the talisman has seemingly turned sour with the suggestion now he will down tools and not report for the pre-season preparations.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Gyokeres has been left frustrated and angered by the failure to stick to the pact which would allow him to leave at an agreed price.

He tweeted: "Following Sporting president quotes, Viktor Gyökeres has no intention to come back and play again.

"Gyökeres already informed the club about it, as per @Record\_Portugal.

"Swedish striker insists on the pact made last year over summed exit, now feeling betrayed and tired."

United have been linked with a reunion between Gyokeres and Amorim after the pair enjoyed success at Sporting.

Arsenal are also among the contenders to acquire his services while Juventus have been linked.

**MEN Sport says:** The opportunity to sign Gyokeres isn't one United should pass up. They are still on the hunt for an out-and-out striker and with Arsenal, seemingly, stalling over a deal to land the striker, it could be an opportunity to dive in. July poses an interesting aspect of the transfer market with clubs appearing to hold off on agreeing deals until after June 30 when they endure some financial relief with the PSR window restarting. It could well be the case that United spring into life and get Mbeumo plus another striker that they are so craving.

### Andre Onana loan move dismissed after Saudi Arabia claim

United goalkeeper Andre Onana has seen his future come under scrutiny since the end of the season.

The Cameroon international faced criticism for a number of high-profile mistakes during a dismal season for the Old Trafford club.

As a result, he has been linked with a move away from the Theatre of Dreams.

It was reported that newly promoted Saudi Pro League side Neom SC were considering a loan move for Onana. However, Ben Jacobs has dismissed that claim.

He has reported that the United shot-stopper wasn't a loan target for the Middle East club, who instead are close to signing Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka.

**MEN Sport says:** It was reported previously that the goalkeeper wants to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford. There have been claims of Emi Martinez but it is likely a move for him will come at a premium and for United to land a new goalkeeper, they face the difficult decision of finding the right one. We have seen the good and the bad in terms of transformative signings. On one hand, Chelsea have tried and tried to appease their goalkeeping concerns but failed to rectify the issue, United do not want to fall into that trap.
