The summer transfer window is well under way and Manchester United continue to be linked with a whole host of players.

has already signed, Bryan Mbeumo is close to arriving and are in the market for a new goalkeeper, midfielder and a forward.

As such, the names linked with a move to Old Trafford keep on coming but it was a similar story last summer as United made waves in the transfer market.

Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte and were the five players who eventually arrived but United were linked with many move.

With that in mind, here is a look at six players United were linked with last summer and how they have fared since.

The 29-year-old banged in 30 goals in his first season at the club and helped them win the AFC Champions League.

Joao Neves

Neves was heavily coveted last summer as United searched for a new midfielder. In the end, United signed Ugarte from PSG after les Parisiens signed Neves from Benfica.

The Portugal international won a treble in his first season in Paris, including the Champions League, and is currently starring for them in the Club World Cup.

Youssouf Fofana

Fofana was another midfield option United considered but he ended up swapping Monaco for AC Milan instead.

The French international impressed despite Milan's Serie A struggles and made 52 appearances in all competitions as they won the Supercoppa Italiana and reached the final of the Coppa Italia.

Sander Berge

The Norway international was a surprise link after just being relegated from the Premier League with Burnley.

He ended up joining Fulham instead and made 36 appearances for the Cottagers last season as they finished 11th in the Premier League table.

Xavi Simons

Simons' performances during EURO 2024 for the Netherlands saw him heavily linked with United after impressing on loan from PSG at RB Leipzig.

However, he opted to join the German side on a permanent basis and despite their struggles last season, the 22-year-old still impressed. He scored 11 goals and bagged eight assists in all competitions.
