Confirmation that Dominic Calvert-Lewin will leave Everton means as many as 13 senior players could formally leave the club this week.
The Blues striker, who signed from Sheffield United in 2016, announced his departure on social media on Sunday in an emotional statement in which he thanked supporters and added: “I’m deeply proud of what we’ve shared, fighting for this club when it mattered most, scoring big goals in crucial moments, wearing the shirt with commitment and pride. My hope is that I leave with your respect, knowing I always sought to uphold the values of this great club.”
With Everton announcing club captain Seamus Coleman had signed an extension on Friday, Calvert-Lewin’s decision means the future of just two players now remains unresolved, publicly at least.
Idrissa Gueye has been offered a new deal and the club is hopeful the 35-year-old will be part of the first season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Michael Keane’s current contract, like Gueye’s, is due to end this week and the club recently said it had remained in touch with his representatives.
The fate of 11 other first team players is already public, with all set to formally end their contracts with the club this week.
Loanees Orel Mangala, Jesper Lindstrom, Jack Harrison and Armando Broja will start pre-season at their parent clubs having spent the season on loan on Merseyside. Mangala and Lindstrom ended the campaign with injuries while Broja also suffered with fitness issues through his spell with Everton.
Last year was Harrison’s second consecutive season on loan from Leeds United but he is due to head back to Elland Road, where his future will be decided. Everton had options to buy written into their deals with Broja and Lindstrom.
Mason Holgate and Neal Maupay each spent the last two seasons on loan away from Merseyside and will officially leave this week. Holgate did play in the first Premier League game of last season for Everton, the home defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion but was then sent on loan to West Bromwich Albion.
Maupay’s troublesome relationship with Everton ended last summer when he moved on loan to Marseille. The deal included an obligation for it to be made permanent that will now come into effect.

Of greater significance last season were Ashley Young and Abdoulaye Doucoure, whose departures have already been confirmed. Both were out of contract. Young started the final game of the season, the win at Newcastle United, and proved an important option at full-back across two campaigns with Everton.
Doucoure wrote his name into club folklore with his survival-clinching goal against Bournemouth and was instrumental to the relegation escapes under Sean Dyche and impressive under Moyes, his goals including the stoppage time winner at Nottingham Forest in April.
The exits of Joao Virginia and Asmir Begovic have also been confirmed, meaning Everton will have to dip into the goalkeeper market this season to bring in back-up for Jordan Pickford. Everton entered a major summer of transition with 15 players on expiring deals but acted quickly to secure loanee Carlos Alcaraz as a permanent from Flamengo.
