Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has endured a tricky start to life at Old Trafford and will face increased scrutiny next season.
Ruben Amorim became Manchester United boss in November, replacing Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout.
This was a bold move from Ineos, given that Amorim brought an immediate change of approach, bringing over his 3-4-2-1 system from Sporting.
United didn’t exactly impress under Amorim, and few performances from the 2024-25 Premier League campaign will live long in the memory.
United also lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur, with Amorim coming in for criticism after some questionable decisions, especially with substitutions.
Amorim has been given the benefit of the doubt, but United fans need to see a major improvement early in this coming season.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah on Ruben Amorim
A squad rebuild should stand Amorim in good stead, with United attempting to make moves in the transfer market to suit Amorim’s approach.
Former United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah has now offered his verdict on Amorim as he continues to watch the Red Devils from afar.

Fosu-Mensah has told The Independent that he has studied Amorim and believes United have a ‘good manager’ at the helm.
Fosu-Mensah even admitted speaking to Sporting defender Jeremiah St Juste, having previously played together in the Dutch Under-21s.
St Juste played 58 times under Amorim at Sporting and had ‘great words’ to say about the United boss when speaking to Fosu-Mensah, leaving the defender confident of his abilities as a coach.
“I have analysed the manager (Ruben Amorim) and I have seen a little bit how he plays and what he wants from his players,” said Fosu-Mensah.
“Jeremiah St Juste from Sporting Lisbon is a good friend of mine, and he had great words for the manager, so I’m positive that United brought in a good manager,” he added.
United fans will hope that Fosu-Mensah is right and will also hope to see the defender back in action again.
United sold Fosu-Mensah to Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, but injuries hampered the Dutch defender.
Fosu-Mensah has now been a free agent for more than a year, patiently waiting for his next opportunity.
Stoke City and Middlesbrough were offered Fosu-Mensah last season, and a trial with Como last summer failed to result in a contract offer.
“Last season was the first time in my career that I’ve spent without a team,” said Fosu-Mensah.
“At this age it’s quite early and I think quite strange for people. I know I’ve been working hard, and hard work won’t go unnoticed. That’s what I believe.
“If you stay at home, you do nothing and then you think ‘boom, OK, I’m going to go this club or that club’, no, that’s not how it works, that’s not my mentality. It’s definitely a fresh start and I’ve been working hard,” he added.
Fosu-Mensah will hope to see Amorim take United forward next season, but will be looking to do so while getting himself back in action.
